At Rochelinval, a small village in the valley of the Salm River, two monuments have been installed to commemorate the heavy combat of the 551st Parachute Infantry Battalion during the Battle of the Bulge.
One monument commemorates the 551st PIB Combat Team for the liberation of this little town, in January, 1945.
The other monument is erected by the 551st PIB in memory of the courageous sacrifices of the Belgian people.
A photo of Lt. Col. Wood G. Joerg and a placard, inaugurated on July 10, 2010, of Sgt. Robert H. Hill are also shown on the monument. Both where KIA on January 7, 1945.
